Writing groups (critique group as yours is called)are a great way to grow professionally inexpensively. Also, videos you can rent or borrow from the library can be another source of professional development on the cheap.

One of my favorite books on women and anything financial is still The Secrets of Six Figure Women by Barbara Stanny. I have found many of the tips and techniques very eye opening and useful.

For a articles specifically on negotiation skills look for articles from the Harvard Business Review on negotiation. A good book on the subject (based on the Harvard Negotiation Project)is Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In by Roger Fisher
